Downtown Oklahoma City Engagement Session

Have you always wanted engagement pictures in downtown Oklahoma City but also want a few with a lush green backdrop? Take a look at Jaisa & Matt’s summer engagement session that gave us the best of both worlds!

I was so excited when it came time for Jaisa & Matt’s engagement session! These two are some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet and were so open to my ideas when it came to locations! Jaisa knew they wanted to take photos at places that meant a lot to them like Bar Arbolada, the locale of their first date, and their church, Frontline! Both places are incredibly beautiful which made it easy for me! Jaisa also had the idea of a lush backdrop to breakup the city vibes and I was more than happy to accommodate!

If you’ve been following my work as an Oklahoma City wedding photographer long enough you might know how much I love shooting in green spaces. I am a sucker for the beautiful things nature gives us as a back drop but green trees will always hold an extra special place in my heart!

Since the other two locations Jaisa & Matt wanted to use were both in downtown Oklahoma City, I knew it would be easiest to find a green space close to the heart of the city. Of course we have the usual options like the Myriad Gardens, Will Rogers Park and Lake Hefner, but Jaisa was willing to try out a spot I hadn’t shot at in a few years! I found this little patch of green when I first started shooting Oklahoma weddings back in high school and I’ve kept it in my back pocket for the rare session ever since! It has the perfect light filtering trees as well as a beautiful view of the cityscape!

After visiting the lush backdrop, we popped over to Bar Arbolada to commemorate their first date before heading to the final location, Frontline! If you’re from Oklahoma and you’ve been to downtown OKC its likely that you’ve passed by this beautiful building on 10th street! The large stone building with its gorgeous stairs and massive columns is just begging to have photos taken of it! I have shot at Frontline a lot over my career but it is always extra special when the couple I’m photographing is a member of the church! Engagement is such a special time to commemorate the early parts of your relationship and being able to memorialize their first church together is so sweet!
