COVID Elopement in Norman, Oklahoma

Weddings

Its not everyday that one of your best friends gets married, and its also not everyday that your wedding gets rescheduled because of COVID-19 and turns into a Norman Elopement.

Through the entire COVID-19 wedding planning experience, the rescheduling of Hannah and Alex’s wedding made me the most sad. These two have been together since our sophomore year of college when me and Hannah lived together in Gamma Phi at OU. I have grown so much thanks to my friendship with Hannah and I wanted more than anything for her to have the day she deserves, on the date she wanted!

As we all know, 2020 doesn’t favor any of us. Hannah and Alex made the decision early on to postpone which means their 2021 celebration will be that much more fun! Hannah’s family is known for bringing the party to celebrations and I cannot wait for the big day to finally come!

When planning their re-imagined 2020 wedding, H + A came up with the idea to say their vows in the same spot they got engaged in 2019! For me it was deja vu except for the fact that Hannah knew what was happening as we walked down the trail at Saxon Park this time! Their first look took place in the exact spot Alex got down on one knee, what a sweet way to finish out their engagement season!

After the first look and some portraits, Hannah & Alex’s immediate families and their MOH + Best Man made their way down to us. We found a lovely sunny spot in the field right behind the tree line and Hannah and Alex were married on a gorgeous June day. This Norman elopement will forever hold such a special place in my heart. It wasn’t very planned but it was very much full of love.

If you are looking for the perfect place to elope in Norman, Oklahoma, I highly recommend Saxon Park! This beautiful park is located right off of Highway 9 and is packed with different scenery! The large tree line keeps the park quiet and the large area means that not many onlookers are passing by. The greenery in the summer is to die for and the evergreens keep the park semi-lush in the winter months! I shoot engagement and senior session here often because it is just that diverse!

After their vows and some family photos we headed back to Hannah + Alex’s house for a small reception. Hannah’s vendors were so kind to provide mini versions of what she hoped for on her wedding day! It was such a fun preview for what is to come in 2021!
