Summertime in Oklahoma usually means its too hot to do much outside but thankfully Katy & Sean were more than willing to brave the heat for their Wichita Mountains Engagement Pictures!

I’ve known Katy almost my whole life! When I moved to Choctaw in the second grade Katy was my next door neighbor! Though she was a few years older than me, her step-sister was my age and we spent countless hours in our pools playing every water game you could think of! I was so thrilled when Katy reached out after her and Sean got engaged! There is nothing more special that photographing moments for people who love each other, but its extra sweet when you know they’re wonderful people!

Our original spot for our session was closed due to some wildlife… aka, SNAKES! Yep, that’s something you have to be super careful of when doing any sort of activity in the Wichita Mountains! The range is full of snakes, tarantulas, and other creepy crawlies. As always, when visiting a wildlife refuge please be aware of your surroundings and know that we are in their home! Be nice 🙂

After some quick decisions, we ended up at one of the lakes in the range that features a STUNNING dam! The dam is hard to shoot on but it creates the more gorgeous and still lake! Katy + Sean love the lake so I felt it was only fitting to incorporate it into their session!

Katy’s blush dress looked amazing against the mountainous backdrop and the sunlight was truly amazing that night! We finished out our Wichita mountain engagement pictures by making the trek up Mt. Scott! I am so happy that the mountain is open again after a couple years of closure thanks to road damage. The views up top are unbelievable and the perfect backdrop for golden hour!
