Josh + Sadie | Winter Wedding in Vail, Colorado
It might be June but that doesn’t mean I’m not dreaming of this stunning winter wedding in Vail, Colorado from this past March! I had the privilege of photographing Josh + Sadie’s intimate wedding that almost didn’t happen thanks to COVID-19! These two fought so hard for the wedding they deserved and it turned out to be the most amazing wedding week!
My Fiancé Collin was Josh’s best man so I had a front row seat to the festivities all week! It was so fun having the town of Vail to ourselves, even if that meant that everything was closed! As one thing after another closed down due to the Pandemic, we all rallied to bring life and joy in Vail! We truly were some of the only people there!
On Tuesday we decided to go ahead and do a first look with J + S just in case Vail made us go home before the scheduled wedding on Thursday! Sadie got ready with her sisters and Josh suited up with his Dad and Collin. We made our way out to the cutest bridge right next to their wedding venue and let me magic happen! After the big reveal we wandered all over town and had the pick of the best spots! I can’t say I loved the threat of COVID being around but I did love that I didn’t have to photoshop anyone out of the photos 😂
When Thursday came around, the wedding was still able to happen and the Lord blessed us with the most amazing snow storm!! I made the walk from my hotel to the Austria Haus as the flutters came down and made Vail look like a snow globe. What a dream! Sadie got ready with the help of her mom, step-mom, sisters and cousins. Her Justin Alexander dress from Bella Rose Norman hung in the window and only helped the excitement grow!
When it was time to head to Vail Interfaith Chapel for the wedding we all loaded up and made our way through the snowy streets. Josh + Sadie road tripped to Colorado in his cherished white Jeep Cherokee and it was sneakily placed in front of the chapel so it could be their getaway car! Their friends even decorated it with window paint, so cute!
The ceremony was intimate, sweet, and intentional. With several guests watching from FaceTime it was so beautiful to see these two become one!
After more photos around Vail, the wedding party made their way to a local pizza shop for a few celebratory drinks and cheers before heading to the reception at Austria Haus. I just loved now non-traditional the day was, yet perfectly fitting for Josh + Sadie!
The reception was cozy, full of laughs, and even some hotel room dancing! Though the wedding was nothing like any of us expected, it is a wedding I will hold near and dear to my heart for the rest of my career! Josh + Sadie handled the whole situation with grace and love and made sure their guests felted cared for. What more could you ask for in clients!
